YOGA, MEDITATION & MASSAGE THERAPY

MOUNA FLOW YOGA WITH NICKI COOPER

Hello, I’m Nicki, and my business is Mounaflow Yoga (pronounced like ‘moun’tain).

Mouna is a Sanskrit word meaning silence. It represents our internal stillness, where we turn our awareness inwards and connect with our true essence.

Through this practice, we can:

♥ Move beyond self-judgments and external expectations

♥ Listen to our deepest heart’s desire and intuition

♥ Live with purpose and intention

♥ Flow with life’s ebbs and flows

This is the heart of what yoga offers. Bringing you back to wholeness and helping you find your flow through stillness and silence.

MY JOURNEY

The First Spark in India
My journey into yoga began in 1998 while backpacking in India, on the banks of the holy lake of Pushkar. This first experience was truly mesmerising. What I remember most was the stillness and silence of the hour, the absolute peace. It was like my body gave the biggest sigh of relief; my mind slowed right down. I was fully present in that moment, feeling lighter, freer.

A Vow and Return to Normal Life
I vowed to explore this practice inside and out, not realising the journey it would take me on. Back home, I soon returned to normal life; India became a distant memory.

Developing a Regular Practice
I practiced yoga over the years when I could, until I found a regular class that fit with family life. This is where my physical practice began to improve, and I started reading everything I could get my hands on relating to yoga.

The Path to Teaching
In 2017, we decided to sell up and travel as a family. I took this opportunity to do a 200hr YTT at Sampoorna yoga school in Goa. I had been thinking of teacher training for a while, since that vow to myself almost 20 years before. This was a life-changing experience, both as a family traveling together having the adventure of a lifetime and all that I learned on my teacher training.

The Power of Silence
The most powerful and what I’m most grateful for was our day of Mouna, silence. This was both wonderful and difficult. Being amongst fellow humans interacting but with no communication, not even eye contact, felt awkward at first but also liberating.

Insights from Silence
There was no explaining, no small talk, just silence. I felt more aware of my space, how my body responded to different people and situations, how I could properly taste my food, and how loud my internal dialogue became. Suddenly, I could really hear myself, some of it not very nice or useful and quite uncomfortable. This was a gift because with all the unhelpful thoughts that came up, I knew I was in a safe space and none of this was me; it was just my mind projecting its insecurities.

Mouna Flow Yoga: My Mission
So my little yoga business has become Mouna Flow Yoga, in honor of that. My mission is to share how we can all find peace and wholeness, using the physical practices of yoga asana, meditation, and pranayama.

FAQ’s

I'm not very flexible. Can I still do yoga?
Yes absolutely we practice yoga to become stronger and more flexible.
Do I need a yoga mat? What should I wear?
You do not need any fancy equipment or yoga clothes to practice, mats are provided and wear comfortable clothes that you can move freely in.
I'm not good at sitting still or emptying my mind. Can I still do a meditation class?
Yes these are the exact reasons to do a meditation class, it’s a chance for you to give yourself permission to slow down and be still, meditation is the practice of observing what comes up in the mind releasing thoughts again and again without getting involved with them, bringing awareness back to the focus of the meditation whether that be the breath or a mantra or visualisation, with time and practice the mind slows and you begin to feel the benefits.
